Is AT&T Have an Implicit Bias Against Women?

I have spent the past four days trying to transfer a DirecTV account from my ex-husband's name to my name, including a three hour plus phone call today, two plus hours on the phone yesterday, a one and half hour chat, a wild goose chase to two stores during the coronavirus crisis on the (mistaken) advice of a DirecTV rep, to accomplish this simple task. I have been told to fill out the "transfer of billing responsibility form" by multiple reps, but this is only for wireless customers. I have also been told that, by a supervisor, in tech, that since the account dates to 2003, I can keep the two boxes in my home, and start a new account, but then sales told me otherwise. I have been told by multiple reps to just keep the account in my ex-husband's name, as if that were an option. There is no logical reason why I cannot keep the DirecTV boxes that are in my home already. I have been told that this could be done if I were a "surviving spouse," but not an ex-spouse. I fail to see any logic behind this policy. It reeks of misogyny. I would imagine that a majority of household with hetero(Edited per community guidelines)ual couples have the husband's name on utility and cable accounts. What up DirecTV? This is not the 1880s.

sorry but you have been misinformed directv does not do a change of responsibility ,its required to cancel the current service and start a new accountmy guess is since att took over directv that the cross training has been less than desirable. i know this because my directv was in my wifes name, i was hired for at&t and got an employee discount and was required for my wife to cancel and i had to restart it in my name for the discount, we had to pay 4 months early termination fee and i was required to sign a new 2 year agreement.
