prorated cancellation directv

I cancelled my directv on sept 25 it posted sept 26 they are charging me for the whole month sept 25 to oct 24 I see they changed their policy in January but I was never notified and when I cancelled nothing was said except I would have to return the equipment by oct 5.i then returned the equipment sept 26 and I received an email saying the equipment was due oct 14.i saw an article saying that the policy does not affect customers in California Illinois and new York.i live in new York do you know if this is true

you were notified, it was in one of the bills a couple of months before it took affect

thanks for the quick response I did not see the notice cause I am on auto pay and honestly never look at the bill.does anyone know if this affects accounts in new York California and Illinois as I saw an article on cordcutters that said residents from these states were exempt

doubt it.  just because you didnt read it does not mean you didnt get the notification.

 

its always a good idea to read everything in any bill

otherwise you dont know when terms are changed

Yes, that is what was reported from multiple outlets. Accounts in California, Illinois and New York are supposed to be exempt.
