Somebody created an account using one of my email accounts and I can not stop from getting his emails
I recive emails every day from purchases, confirmations and spam. I tried to contact the customer service by call and email but as I am from another country this option was not available. The only way to contact that succeded was by the "Chat service" but 3 weeks passed and nothing changed. Now I had to create an account only to post in this forum!
I attach the conversation here in the post to give more context but If tomorrow this is not fixed, I will try to go with the legal way to solve this. And if its to slow I am going to recover the account to delete it (as it is linked to MY email), even if this causes problems to somebody.

There is nothing you can do. Only the account owner can change the email address associated with their account. I’m surprised the chat agent said they would do anything, they won’t. They can’t. All you can do is delete the emails you get.

@sandblaster This response has no sense.
1. It is not legal to let users contract services using someone else data, for this reason, the 99% of pages use the "email confirmation step".
2. The US's CAN-SPAM legislation forces all the companies to let the users unsubscribe from any newsletter and be removed from the database.
3. If I am really (Edited per community guidelines) off I can access and delete the account as it's linked to my email so I can use the user/pwd recover option and login.
Simply say "All you can do is to delete the emails" is not a true statement and has no sense. At&t has the legal obligation to fix this.

No, they don’t. You may not like my response but to say it makes no sense is not true. It makes perfect sense and unfortunately for you, happens to be true. Go ahead and try to use the email to gain access, it likely won’t work because account access is blocked from abroad. I know you believe someone did this on purpose but it was likely by mistake. You would be surprised how many similar complaints are seen here.

@sandblaster Just checking a bit the forums I am seeing that sadly this is a common problem and the main cause is because they do not send the confirmation email.
And yes they have the responsibility to fix this. Even understanding that this is probably done by mistake does not change the fact that it is Fraud/ID issue. A lawyer will say if receiving emails telling me that "I owe At&t money" is a Scam or not. That most users did not want to take legal action does not mean that I will do the same. I take a lot of care for keeping my email clean and believe me when I say that this will be fixed.

Good luck getting it fixed, you’ll need it. I hope you are successful. When and if you do get it fixed, please come back and report how.

@sandblaster Hi!
It's been almost a month since the last time I received a mail so I guess that the problem is fixed. To achieve this I had to talk with 6 different chat agents and do some calls.
Still quite irritated about this issue. They should prevent this kind of problems.
