Unauthorized enrollment in DTV protection plan

We were never even asked if we wanted the DTV protection plan yet were enrolled. We do not want it and had to waste our valuable time calling and cancelling the service, where I might add, they tried u to o sell me something again! I have limited time to watch tv and enjoy my family, yet had to spend 20 mins of my time calling to unenroll in something I never enrolled in. Oh, and three (3) attempts to get someone to my   new house w/ my service move. Two (2) stand-ups, hours of time on the phone. Tut tut, guys. Thumbs waaaay down.

Without my permission, acceptance or authorization, I just had my protection plan "upgraded" to the much more expensive $20/mo vs the basic plan at $8.99/mo. This happened after I called Directv when the nationwide error 771  issue occurred on 2/26/24. This has happened to me numerous times before when I have had a technician come to the house, and after the visit, all of a sudden my protection plan gets "ugraded" without my authorization. So now, every time I have to have service by a Directv technician, I check my account the next day to make sure unauthorized changes have not been made to my account. I then have to waste at least twenty minutes to an hour speaking to someone in India to get the issue resolved, often having to wait on the line for 30 minutes while they "check out the issue". This time it took 2 phone calls and 45 minutes to resolve, and the outcome was a "discontinuation of the more expensive plan", then "re-enrollment" in the plan I previously had been in but was disenrolled from without my authorization. And I still am being charged additional monies! Furthermore, to add insult to injury I keep getting requests to complete a survey about the "service" of the technician that never came to the house because he called me and told me my issue was related to the national outage and he cancelled the appointment I had made with him, but not of course before he changed my protection plan! I wish there was some governing body who could prevent these sketchy business practices by Directv.
