Why are refunds nearly impossible to get?

I have been having issues with getting a $154 credit I have carried on my account refunded, for over a year! I call monthly, speak to a representative and am promised it will all be taken care of! A few times I was even told my refund would be “expedited” to me. I keep hearing , “It will go on a card”. What card? I have no idea why a refund cannot be sent in a proper form when it is in my account and under my name! It is my credit!!

I also know, if the cable company messes up with your account (in my case, when I started with them) and overcharged for services I never signed up for, I better pay it first and fight for it later or I will be threatened with a collection agency while I wait (over a year in my case) for this to be cleared up!  This is reality!

So, today, I am still trying to find out where my refund is?       “On its way.”

Credit balances aren't refunded unless the credit is due to an overpayment, more than likely it's a programming credit and therefore non refundable.

The credit is an overpayment for services I did not order but I was charged for. It had to be paid until I was able to get it worked out or I would have been past due. I did not get reimbursed for the amount paid for the extra services! I’m not sure why this is so difficult! If I have a credit on my account, money was given to you. This was not a credit given to me by Direct TV! Please understand that! Do I have to pursue this in Small Claims Court? Who would I sent my letter of intent to and what is the address?

My credit was due to an overpayment to DirectTv... This was NOT a programming credit ! This is so infuriating! You received money for services I did not order.

(2) A party who intends to seek arbitration must first send to the other, by certified mail, a written Notice of Dispute ("Notice"). The Notice to DIRECTV should be addressed to: DIRECTV LLC, Consumer Arbitration Demand, P.O. Box 915, El Segundo, CA, 90245 ("Notice Address"). The Notice must (a) describe the nature and basis of the claim or dispute; and (b) set forth the specific relief sought ("Demand"). If DIRECTV and you do not reach an agreement to resolve the claim within 30 days after the Notice is received, you or DIRECTV may commence an arbitration proceeding. During the arbitration, the amount of any settlement offer made by DIRECTV or you shall not be disclosed to the arbitrator until after the arbitrator determines the amount, if any, to which you or DIRECTV is entitled. You may download or copy a form Notice and a form to initiate arbitration at att.com/arbitration-forms

@Kj3333 , hey all I'm saying is that might be why you haven't been refunded yet, you didn't pay "us" this isn't customer service it's a customer to customer forum.

Usually refunds are automatically generated so something's not right somewhere.
