The HR54 Genie and the HS17 Genie2 both play recorded/watch 4K programs can use WiFi to connect to your home network for On Demand. AFAIK 4K still uses more bandwidth then WiFi can provide.
There is no mention of 4K wireless for DirecTV. Their equipment is still early level in the 4K days. With limited 4K content there is not a huge need for it right now.
The bigger issue is that it has been years since a new model (of any line of equipment) has been introduced. As there is a new co-owner for DirecTV, I hope to see information about new equipment in the foreseeable future. My opinion is they need a new SWM-only HDDVR to complement the Genie line instead of pushing the Genie-2 setup that only allows Clients. Along with that a 4K Genie or a simpler 4K HDDVR would be a great option instead of only a 4K Client.
Thank you Juniper. We were told by support a few weeks back that a wireless 4K "genie" which I should have mentioned in my question was suppose to be out in the next month. We have a 4K tv in an area that is hard to wire. So, he told me to watch the forums as there's a lot of talk about it. When I did the search, everything I found looked to be pretty old. Maybe he just didn't want to wire up the genie. I appreciate your help.

yes, i think the support guy was just making things up. There's no sign of any wireless 4K receiver.
