771 error

I am helping a friend setup his directv for use in his motor home.  He has a H24-700 receiver and is using a SL3 dish on a tripod with a SWiM 3D2LNBRO-02 LNB.  For now we are just trying to establish a good signal so we are running a RG6 cable directly between the dish and the receiver.  We are using the required 21V power supply.  We have checked continuity of the inner conductor and shielding which reads around 0.04 ohm for 50' of cable.  This cable checks negative for shorts.  We were very meticulous in leveling the tripod and setting the azimuth, elevation, and tilt for our location.

The receiver sees the lnb and configures the receiver - Dish Type: SL3 LNB, RB/IMTL: None Selected, Switch Type: SWM module 22 ch .  We cannot get a signal from any satellite and the receiver gives a 771 error code.  The receiver reports zero signal strength on all transponders on all satellites.  Inside his house the signal strength is reported at 95 to 98 depending on the transponder.  We started by having the RV dish point exactly as his house dish (214 degrees) and have since tried rotating the dish from 180 to 270.  The signal strength never goes above zero.

The SWiM LNB and SL3 dish were new in an unopened box when we started.  Could this be a bad LNB or could this LNB be incompatible with the H24-700?  Is there something obvious I have missed.

Thanks,

Dave

The H24 is fully compatible with the Single Wire Multiswitch dish and SWM Power Supply. My guess is that it's an aiming issue. Check out my video to see how I do it ....

I have actually watched that exact video twice.  The first time prior starting this project and again after problems developed.  The mast is level and I am convinced the dish tilt and elevation are spot on.  I have rotated the dish from 180 to 270 degrees when the correct azimuth for my location is 214 degrees.  The signal meter never left zero.

Very frustrating.  Thanks for the response.

Please confirm with us which is the third party agency with whom your friend hired the DIRECTV service for his ARV?
