771 Problems

I've been getting 771 onscreen for a few weeks now.  Sometimes I get no picture at all.  Direct service tech has been out twice and has replaced the dish, SWM and all reachable connectors from wall to two HR24s in different rooms.  He said, next time he'll have to replace cables.  The picture is good for a couple of days after his visits, then 771 returns.  Are there any fixes I can do?  The picture pixelizes and sometimes goes out every minute or so.

Hi, Darita. We’re sorry to hear you keep getting issues with error code 771. This error means your dish isn’t communicating with the satellite, most likely due to severe weather issues. You can learn more about it and get alternative options to keep enjoying your service on the next link https://www.directv.com/support/article/KM1443051 Since we have already worked on your account, we will send you a PM to review the next step. Highly unlikely that it's a sun-related issue. The sun only lines up with the DirecTV satellites twice each year in early March and early October. And even then the disruption is only a couple of minutes.

Thanks for the replies.  This has been going on for almost a week now.  There's a tech out here right now and he's going to be my replacing cables that have been around for at least 15 years, so I hope that will cure the issues.  Short of replacing every connector in the system, everything else has been replaced but the DVRs and the tech doesn't believe they are the issue.

I trust that the tech has verified that there are no trees or other obstructions that could impact your satellite view?

Yes, he did.  He just finished and ended up replacing all the cables and connectors in the system, other than those within the walls.  There are 3 DVRs and 1 nonDVR.  Needless to say, it was a lot of work, but everything seems to working fine now.  We'll see how long it lasts, but I think he got it.
