771a failures both hdvcrs-- also deca switch does not work; light on restart but then all 3 lights go out and stay out
had some recent issues with changing between recorder on play back between rooms "no data from server" and occasionally had to restart wireless router.
last night got several intermittent fails with 771a code ( it cold for first time)
this morning had no guide and MSG said no satellite data for last 7 hrs-- permanent failure
have called for a service call and did several restarts and check of all indoor connections;
I found an old antenna /cable checker and fount that it flashed when I connected the cable leading out to the antenna (detecting the 21v power?)
decided to try this out at the junction box below the dish but found that the center conductor is eaten away on both sides of the feed thru on the one SW"I"M cable being used ( the other cable looked fine) could this failure also cause the decaf box to quit? Is this a common issue (note this junction is also where the cable is tied to the ground lugs

Not common. But moisture can certainly corrode coax connectors. And it can cause the symptoms you're seeing.
Have you replaced the coax connector?

not yet; I need to chase down the tool; I think I have the f connectors; I just want to know if that will solve the whole problem- does the decca module some how monitor the sv signal level? or do I have separate problems?

the receivers need to be in "SWM mode" in order to properly power up the DECAS. if the SWM system is not working and you reset the receivers, they will boot up in "legacy" mode. thus not powering up your DECAS.

looks like replacing the connectors solved both problems, however it seems that the barrel case of the connector needs to contact the safety ground wire comming down from the dish.
does this mean that both a shield and a hard ground are needed for the Swim to work? or do I perhaps have a poor shiled connection inside the coax comming down? DECAS also seem to be working and I can see and use both RCDRS.

bonding the system to your house common ground is required by the NEC. however, a system that is not grounded would still work, but is NOT safe. all coax connectors and the mast of the dish should be bonded with a ground block to your house common ground as close to the entry point as possible and practical.
