"A Tale of 2 H20s", or, "Now I'm Really Confused!"
Hi again, guys! If you've read any of my recent posts about troubleshooting my 5LNB, H20 installation, you may remember that I originally had a short in my original 5LNB feed (either one of the downcoverters or the integral multiswitch) that caused my H20-600 to fail, so that it could no longer source enough current to switch the replacement LNB assembly. Fortunately the H20 was still under warranty, so DIRECTV sent me a new one, an H20-100. There are some minor menu font differences between the two units which don't amount to much, but there is also one difference that I consider significant. The H20-100 reports that there are more transponders available than the H20-600 did. For example, the 103 deg satellite showed 8 active transponders on the H20-600, but many more (I think in the neighborhood of 20) are shown on the H20-100. And on the 99 deg sat, my old H20-600 came up with all n/a transpoders, and the H20-100 indicates that there should be a bunch active. The only reason that I care, is that I am indicating a signal strength of around 83 for one of the 103 deg transponders, and 0 for all the rest. I am also showing 0 for all those 99 deg transponders that the H20-100 thinks I should be able to see. The H20-600 never even gave a clue that there were any 99 deg transponders available for my area.
I apparently get all the channels, including all the HD channels, that are currently available to my (Denver, CO) market, but I don't want to miss out on anything that is activated in the future, so I want to be sure that my dish pointing is correct. Am I properly pointed, or not? Should I be seeing any 99 deg signal from Colorado, or not? What should I really expect to see on all these transponder signal meters? I'm confused....
