Accessing Streaming on Directv.

New to Directv (actually returning after years away) and have not figured out how to access Amazon Prime.  Also same question regarding other Streaming services such as Disney or NetFlix.

That is because you can't.  DTV is a satellite TV provider not a streaming service.  You need a streaming device or their app on a smart TV to use them.

I have a smart TV and am linked to the internet with Directv.  I switched from Dish where I simply had to click on Amazon Prime to watch it.  So I'll try to figure out how to load the app to my TV.

If you have a Smart TV, then you should be able to download the Amazon Prime App. Otherwise, you'll need streaming device, like Roku, FireStick, etc.

I switched from Dish where I simply had to click on Amazon Prime to watch it.

So I presume that means Dish included various streaming apps on their receivers. Directv does not do that. The only thing you can stream through your Directv receiver is Directv on demand programming.

You would be correct. I haven’t researched Dish in awhile but I know their Hopper (equivalent of Genie HD DVR) is able to stream multiple apps while still acting as a satellite receiver.

Your smart TV needs to be connected to the internet to use the TV apps, DTV receivers do not supply internet to any other devices.
