Activate R22 and home network for Whole Home
Just a heads up on the status of whether the R22 is eligible for whole home and doing an activation of a home brew Cat5 network. At 8:02 this morning I sent the following email:
"I have been participating in the Whole Home beta for several weeks and have a hard wired network that works beautifully. I would like to activate whole home using my own network. I'm fully aware of the benefits of DECA but would like to use my own network at this time. Attempting to get activated via phone has been frustrating for many. Can you make the proper entries in the system to activate my account? I hereby authorize the added $3 per month fee.
At 2:33 PM I received this reply.
"Thank you for writing. I'm happy to respond to your request for Whole Home DVR Service to be added to your account.
As you requested, we have added the $3 monthly Whole-Home DVR Service to your account. Because DIRECTV bills you for service at the start of your billing period, any changes you make mid month, such as adding a service, will show as partial month charges from the day you made the change to the end of the 30 day billing day period.
The changes to your account will be reflected on your next DIRECTV bill, or you can see them immediately by signing into your DIRECTV account online at directv.com/mydirectv and clicking on the "Activity Since Last Bill" section in the "Account Details" page."
My R22 is authorized and works perfectly as do the other two DVR's. My online account reads "already activated". No muss, no fuss, no threats, all nice.

Thanks for the update, dcd. I guess the problem is only for folks where the R22 is their only DVR. You must have at least one "true" HD DVR besides the R22.
