Adding an additional tv

Hello! I have Directv Satellite, and I recently added a tv in a location where it is not possible to be a hardwired coax connection like I have everywhere else in my home. I am wondering how difficult it will be, or if it is even possible to add a wireless (client/box/receiver?) to this tv.

Can you mix hardwired with wireless, and is there a maximum number of (clients/boxes/receivers?) My account says the equipment we have is the Genie2, Model HS17-100 (I read that it has a wireless video bridge installed internally, and supports wired and wireless clients/boxes/receivers, is this correct?) and then I have 8 additional tvs that utilize the Model C61-100.  The wireless would be for a 9th tv.

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, but unfortunately you cannot have more than 8 TVs activated on your DIRECTV account with the HS17. It’s a really bad limitation (especially for people who need more than 8 TVs).

The only way you can really get service in this room is by sacrificing a receiver in another. Then, you could swap that C61 with a C61W or whichever wireless Genie mini client DIRECTV provides you with.

But, with the criteria met, it is absolutely POSSIBLE to do what you are asking. The only problem is that you have reached the limit of 8 TVs on an account with the HS17.

The HS17 only has 7 tuners so only 7 TVs can watch Live TV at the same time.

I forgot to mention that there is a workaround to your issue. However, it requires MUCH change and completely changes your current system. It requires that you downgrade from the HS17 to the HR54. From there, you would have to swap 5 clients for regular standalone HD receivers (H24 or H25). That would leave you with the same 8 TVs as before. The HR54 itself is a TV, you would have the five H24/H25s, and then the two Genie clients. From there, it would be possible to get a wireless Genie client for the 9th TV without sacrificing another TV. It definitely is a poor decision, but just thought I’d mention it.

And you will have to buy a WVB.

IIRC the new RC1 account is limited to 8 devices total so 9 is not possible.
