Adding another receiver with SWM Installation

At camp I have a slimline dish on the garage. Coax runs from the dish to a ground block then into the camp then into the power inserter. ( this works fine) what I want to know is how do I run another coax to hook up another receiver on my patio that's close to the garage. Do I need to incorporate a splitter of some kind? If so could I put it in the garage or does it have to be in the camp close to the inserter? Thanks for your help

I already have the receiver. I just need to know how to connect the coax and where the splitter can be located .

Current configuration?  Dish -> ground block -> CAMP? -> power inserter?  Is CAMP your receiver? What model?   There should be an available "Signal to IRD' out jack on the power inserter. When you add a Directv green label splitter, your configuration should look like this.

Dish -> Ground block -> Power inserter "power to SWM" ->  Power inserter "Signal to IRD"  ->  SWMSplitter In -> Splitter out 1 ->  receiver one,  Splitter out 2 ->  receiver two

Hope this helps

Hello @kmac201,

We do not have information on the self-installation of DirecTV equipment. Because of this, it is recommended that a certified DirecTV technician be responsible for the installation, to avoid any complications with your service and any potential repair fees should any part be damaged.

Please join us in a PM so we may work with you on this.

Thanks b52pooh. I don't know the model number of the receiver. I'm going to try this configuration out this weekend when I'm at camp. I believe the only Dtv green label splitter I have us a 8 way splitter. Will this be ok and should I cap off the unused ports on the splitter? Thanks again for your time

It's a bit of overkill, but it should work. Not necessary to cap unused ports in most situations. You can get a Directv green 2 way splitter at Solidsignal.com
