Advice on Equipment

I currently have the following:

HR54-700

HR24-100

HR24-500

Mini C51-500

I am looking at making some changes to the programming for cost savings (currently have the legacy XTRA programming and will be inquiring about moving to Choice). But also reviewing the equipment and here is my situation:

1) the mini was originally setup to send signal to a patio tv and guest bedroom tv. We no longer need this as the plan is to just use a Firestick with the DTV app when it is needed. We hardly ever use this client.

2) the HR24-100 is in a room that is not used often for TV (mainly gaming). That receiver is very loud (even when the power light is off the fan or something is making a lot of noise).

My thought was to replace the HR24-100 with the mini and take the HR24-100 off the account to save the $7.  Do you see any issues with this plan or the equipment being used?

Secondly, I am often having to reconnect the internet to my receivers. Except for the mini, they are all hardwired ethernet (vs. wireless) so I am not sure why this happens so often. They do run through ethernet switch as I need more ports but my other devices do not seem to have an issue. Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance!

Replacing the HR24-100 with a mini should not be an issue if you wish to save the $7 on the monthly TV access fee.

As far as reconnecting your receivers to the Internet often, this could be due to the fact that they are each individually hooked up to an Ethernet connection. With DIRECTV SWM splitters and SWM connectivity, the Genie HR54 is the only receiver that should be plugged into the internet via Ethernet or otherwise wireless Wi-Fi. Thereafter, the HR54’s access to the Internet is ‘bridged’ over the SWM splitter and coaxial cable to deliver connectivity to the two HR24s and the one C61. Therefore, you don’t need to hardwire each receiver individually, this will cause issues.

@detuch254 thank you for the reply. As I think more about it, what purpose would the client serve for that TV that I would move it to (TV used mostly for gaming)? Would I lose anything by using a Firestick and DTV app in that room as well (thus lowering it another $7?)

You will not save save $7 a month by replacing the HR24 with a mini as the mini also costs $7. The HR24 has a fan and hard drive that run 24/7

@shannon02 For clarity, my initial post was referencing the plan to move the mini from the current location that no longer needs a receiver/mini and have it take the place of the H24 that is very loud. I would then decommission the H24 (thus saving the $7). Now I am wondering if I just retire both of them and put a Firestick on that tv (Instead of the mini) and use the DTV app for those times when we need to watch TV - and that would save another $7 ($14 total). I am just curious if I would lose anything using the Firestick w/app over the mini.

@NoEyeDeer If you decide to use your app instead of the Genie Mini Equipment, you might not be able to access all the streamable content from a channel included in your package. We have sent you a DM to better assist you. - PamelaC DIRECTV Social Media Specialist.
