After disconnecting receiver in living room, the receiver in the bedroom shows SEARCHING FOR SATELLITE SIGNAL

After disconnecting receiver in living room, the receiver in the bedroom shows SEARCHING FOR SATELLITE SIGNAL until I plug the living room one back in. We need to do some remodeling so I can't leave it plugged in, what is causing this? Thanks in advance
