All local channels out

This morning all of my local channels immediate say there is a problem and offer to go to the streaming option. No other channels are having this problem. There is no weather issue and only light cloud cover.

What sat do the local channels use? I'm in the Toledo, Ohio area.

Will resetting my receiver resolve this?

We are in Hilton Head Island SC and had a signal disruption since early this morning.  Clicked on signal saver but screen say rebuffering every couple of minutes.  Really annoying.  Doesn’t seem like problem will be fixed quickly.

QUESTION WHEN THEY REDIRECT SAT. SIGNAL WILL IT CHANGE OUR KEY/PASSPHRASE OR WILL IT BE THE SAME?

On my boxes it associated with HD channels on Sat 99cb and 99s (spot beams).

Since many local TV channels carried are only transmitted in HD it will affect these if they are on Sat 99s (spot beam).  Most regular DTV channels also are transmitted in SD which still works, and any HD channels on 99ca.

It affects satellite 99cb and 99s.  99ca seems to be still working.

Hope it is just a channel to transponder mapping program issue and not an actual satellite hardware issue.

So it’s been at least 14 hours and we cannot stream here. I am connected to the internet but that is also satellite and I don’t have unlimited data or enough speed to watch anything but constant buffering. Ironically, I just got my bill today for $186. I certainly hope there will be a decent reimbursement for the inconvenience. I’m missing a lot of shows I record, not happy.

I can stream but that’s useless for me because I need to be able to DVR stuff which is the main reason I have the DIRECTV satellite with the Geanie.

All I use it for is to record a few morning and evening news plus a couple of network shows. There are lots of streaming devices that cost less, so really, the only reason I have DIRECTV is for its integrated DVR which right now can’t record 99% of what it is set to record which is 80% of my DIRECTV television watching. I have to say the service side of DIRECTV has drastically improved with AT&T. I’ve had DIRECTV since 2000.

I already have Apple TV boxes, on all my TVs so I’m basically paying a lot for a DVR service.

I recently had equipment issues that took multiple tech visits to finally figure out what was the actual problem. They basically replaced almost everything until the very last thing left, was the cable running through the wall.  Tiny section had deteriorated, so water got in with intermediate satellite issues,  I have a service contract and they’ve gotten really good about responding to equipment issues. Ironic, just when that issue gets fixed this issue pops up.

i’m picturing a tech in a space suit working on the satellite 23,000 miles in space.

I'm not a TV nerd but this outage "to be corrected soon" is quite annoying to say the least.  (It's effects are considerably more than just a few channels not working. )  I'm also not a conspiracy theorist, but last week's AT&T service interruption followed by this one...   unrelated causes?  Maybe; maybe not.   I have a hard time taking any explanation at face value.

So let me get this straight, DIRECTV can serve me ads while my program is paused but when there is a national satellite outage you can’t inform us on our TVs via that very same method instead of us coming to this forum? What a friggin joke of a company this has become.

Yes, the problem is with DirecTV, not your equipment.

All the 99cb transponders are off as well as some local channel transponders. As a temporary fix, they have connected to their streaming service on some of the channels. You'll see a sign that they have switched to streaming. However, you can't record on them and you need a smart TV.

I noticed my Las Vegas locals go away just after 11 PM on Monday.

That is because the ads come from the internet, the sat is not working so they can't send you any anything telling you that it is not working on those channels.

Checked at 7 am EST, Wed 2/28 and one of the previous out regular HD Directv continental channels was back on.  Then at about 7:30 am EST it went back off again.

It is possible they remap channel assignment to 103° satellite if they have capacity available.

Could likely do this for Directv continental coverage channels, but they are unlikely to have enough spare capacity to re-route all local TV channels.  This may be reason regular Directv channels on 99ca are working.

Re-routing may require sending channel mapping info to each individual subscriber box so it would take a while.
