Anynet+ HDMI-CEC control of my DirectTV cable box HR44-200 with my Samsung TV ModelQN82Q6DTAFXZA remote control

The dIRECTV box is located in a closet on the end of a 25 foot HDMI cable so obviously it is RF controlled at this time. The DIRECTV remote will allow me to turn on the TV but the volume will not adjust with the remote. When I pair the TV and turn the volume up and down it works initially but after I accepted the setting “it worked” and completed it no longer allows it to be controlled after completion. It seems that it does a temporary learn IR volume control when you pair it but as soon as you complete it it switches back to RF. It seems that the description in the E manual for the TV Model

QN82Q6DTAFXZA should allow me to control my cable box via HDMI AnyNet+ control platform but when I go to set it up it wants for me to be able to point at it in IR mode.

The remotes use both RF and IR at the same time.

Thanks and I agree as it works initially but doesn’t retain the setting after clicking “It Works”. What gives?
