Attic

I am interested in switching from Comcast to DIRECT-TV but the installation might involve the installer to get into my attic. Does such an installation automaticallly require extra charges? My main concern is will the installation cost money and therefore not be a free installation as your ads suggest.

It probably depends on the work to be done in the attic.  If it's just to connect the cables to existing RG6 within a wall, probably not.  If it's extensive wire pulls or fishing cables through walls then it would likely incur a fee.  And keep in mind (reference your last sentence) we're customers like you not Directv employees.

Thanks, boogie

I still have a DIRECT-TV dish on my roof  from 2003. There are two white coaxial looking cables running through my attic. How can I identify RG6 cable? If it is from 2003, would it probably be RG6?

If it's from 2003 it's likely RG6.  The cable should have printing on it specifying it as such. It is a thicker cable than the older RG59 and has a solid-copper core.
