Azimuth Alignment

What is the best methodology for ensuring your dish has the best alignment in the right azimuth? I am installing a new AUS-9 dish and am having problems getting the azimuth set properly. I should be aligned at 224 degrees per my recievers based on my location. I've tried using a compass to line up the dish but once I get the compass near the dish, I see the needle move so getting close to the LNB arm with the compass is a challenge. Short of just getting close and using the meter on the Accutrac II is there a better way?
