Blue format lights flashing
Twice in the last 2 days the blue format lights on the front of my HR34/700 genie receiver have been flashing. First reset had 48 errors and lost all recorded shows. 2nd reset had 16 errors. Recorded shows intact.
What's going on?

Your hard drive is definitely either corrupt or failing by the day. When the blue format lights flash, this is showing that the receiver is looking for the proper format in accordance with the TV and current video plug used. If it hangs like this, that immediately geers toward a file corruption and/or bad hard drive. Even if all recordings are intact, they are likely unwatchable at this point. Are you able to get to the actual recordings of the HR34? Or does it hang on the satellite setup 2 of 2 with the format lights?
In any event, DIRECTV should replace your old HR34 with a newer Genie HD DVR that has better performance and a brand new UI. This will only cost the shipping fee of $19.95 and no contract is involved.

After reset this last time, I can view the recordings. It was hung up on the channel I was watching live. It just stopped and the blue lights started flashing. It was recording another channel.

Just to confirm, have you noticed any change on your recordings when trying to access from our app? Please also let us know if you were trying to record live TV content.
We will be waiting for your response to work on this together, we're here to help.

@wiverwoad glad the HR34 started working again, but please be aware that these are just some of the common symptoms of a slowly failing drive. If I were you, I would quickly binge-watch the recordings just in case.
As a side note, the HR34 was the first ever generation Genie HD DVR and is outdated equipment. It still runs an older UI compared to the HR44, H44, and HR54. In the future, I suggest you upgrade that HR34 to an HR54. There is no contract involved as both equipment is considered the same thing.
