Caller ID

Caller ID will not display on the TV.  Receiver HR24-100 is set up to display caller ID but incoming calls are not displayed.

Obvious question .... is your HR24 connected to a known good analog phone line?

Absolutely,  Direct TV Technicians have been here and have seen the problem but did not come up with a fix as of yet.

Next question ... do you have DSL internet service?

If yes, is there a DSL Filter connected to the DVR's phone jack?  Sometimes two are needed.

DSL phone service via ATT and there has been two DSL phone filters, just for grins, tried and still does not function.  Never had the issue with Dish?

I can't think of anything else to suggest.  It's a fact that DirecTV's equipment can be rather flaky when it comes to Caller ID services.

Understand.  Technicians have already tried to resolve and indicated they were turning this over to ISS?  That was the 30 thof August and have not hear a peep since.

I'll be surprised if ISS can help much here.  Keep us posted.

Caller ID has to be capable of reading a variety of telephone signals.  In the case of DSL, the signal is digital and the phone modem is analog.  Makes for a quirky system.

Agree but with the Dish receiver there was no problem at all.

And we've seen variation even across different DirecTV Receiver models.  It's possible that a non HR24 DVR might work better.  But I wouldn't want to lose all of my recordings switching to a different DVR just for Caller ID.

Agree, but it was sure nice when it worked with the dish receiver, cleared incoming calls nicely and allowed you to weed out calls not wanted.
