Can I hook up my blu ray player to the HD DVR Receiver and then use my IR remote?

I just bought a Panasonic blu ray player from Costco.  My HD DVR receiver is in the closet...so the installer set up my remote control to work off infrared.  I'm hoping to put my player in the closet also and use the DVR infra red remote also Can I?
