Can I network with two wireless routers instead of buying wireless adaptor?
Basically I have 2 HD-DVRs. The one in living room is directly connected (via cat 5) to my wireless router (for VOD). I have a second HD-DVR in my bedroom that is NOT currently connected to the internet because I don't really care about VOD in the bedroom. However, I saw on the most recent update that the BETA for MRV (sharing HD-DVR content between one another) has come out. Now I don't have a SWM (I got DIRECTV installed over 2 years ago) and since this is new I don't want to go out and purchase a wireless adaptor for the second HD-DVR because I don't care about VOD in the bedroom. My question is #1 is the SWM necessary for sharing content between my two HD-DVRs and #2 I have another Westell 7500 wireless router....could I use that instead of a wireless adaptor? I love the idea of being able to share content between my two HD-DVRs, but since this is just in the BETA stage I don't want to spend any money over it.
Thanks,
JC

The bandwidth requirements for MRV are much greater than for On Demand or even Media Share. Some people have reported success with wireless-N networking, but many (including myself) have not.
Some routers can be used as wireless adapters running dd-wrt firmware. The Westell routers do not support this.

You should read the sticky post at the top of this page.

Directv is urging anyone who isn't currently networked sufficiently to try MRV to not spend any more money to do so. They will be offering a system called DECA after the national release that will render your wireless adapters etc unnecessary. The current policy is that DECA will be required to get MRV. In addition most folks with wireless are having problems using MRV.
