can I put a regular directv box where my defective dvr box is?

Okay here's the problem. My DVR may be defective and needs to be replaced. I called twice today and the second agent was trying to order one for me but said the system must be down, my luck.
Anyways, I have another box (not dvr) in another room and want to bring it out to the family room where the old dvr box is. The problem I am having is the co-axle (spelling) cord for the dvr box has 2 plugs that go into the box and the regular box only needs one plugged into the back. So, what to do?

Oh and I guess I have to call back and see if I can get a new DVR box ordered tonight too. Thanks!
