Can I put shows from DVR to PC so I can burn them to DVD?
directtvtopc does not do this

Sure. You need an audio/video capture device for your PC. Most of these connect to the PC's USB port and provide audio/video inputs that will take your DirecTV DVR output (composite video and analog audio) and essentially turn your PC into a fancy DVD Recorder.

A dvd recorder will record directly from your DVR to a DVD. Its very similar to using VHS tapes except for finalizing the disk when you are done recording. Video capture always seemed so tedious by comparison.
