Hello Terry. We will be happy to help you with your concern. You can download the DIRECTV app on your Roku. You can find more information at Get the DIRECTV App for Roku Devices | DIRECTV Customer Service & Support. We will be here if you have more questions. Gloria, DIRECTV Community Specialist
Directv is satellite service, so no, you can’t use a Roku or any streaming device to receive satellite service. What you can do is use the Directv app which will allow you to stream many channels in your package but not all.
But the app is still kind of new and has some bugs. Some features still don't work and you can't view all the channels that you get on sat due to agreements with DTV & the providers on what channels allow streaming.
Read a little more in this thread where this person wanted to save a few bucks and use the app instead of a normal sat box that cost you $7/month:

The new DTV app when the bugs are fixed will allow you to access most of your DTV satellite channels on Roku.

You can use the roku app to stream satellite channels, just install the app and log in. They started allowing this a few months ago.
@ shannon02 what roku bug are you talking about?

Short answer is yes.
