Can recordings be transferred to a new receiver?
I will be replacing a HD DVR receiver with an upgraded new one. Is there any way to retain programs recorded by transferring to the new HD DVR?

No, recordings are encrypted to the dvr they were recorded to.

Unfortunately not. Your best bet is re-watching the old shows quickly before you replace the old HD DVR with a new one. You can also save the recordings in real time via the component outputs of the receiver and a VCR recorder or DVD recorder. Another good way is buying an inexpensive capture card ($10) and attaching it to your computer to record shows in real-time in better quality using OBS Studio.
