Changing tv input with direct remote

Question

I see from some of the other threads that I need a "code" to program the direct remote to change my input from direct to the television. I am able to change the channels/volume already, just trying to be able to switch the inputs back and forth with direct remote. (my grandson threw away our tv remote! But we still love him!) my tv is a cheap dynes from best buy.

Push select and mute together until the green LED at the top of the remote flashes twice.  Then release and press 960.  You should be good to go.

Activate TV INPUT button:Mode switch to TVPress and hold Mute and Select until the LED blinks twiceEnter: 9 6 0If the LED flashes twice after entering 9 6 0, the Input button is enabled. If it flashes four times you've turned the Input button Off and need to repeat the above step to enable it again.

Tried it several times, saw the green light go back and forth from two to four blinks, but it never did solve the problem. I still am unable to change tv inputs via the direct tv remote. Are there any other steps I could undertake?

as far as I recall, Dynex does  not have the input button mapped on their code set.  sorry
