Confusion on new multi-room set up

Our HD receiver box stopped working (we also have a working HD DC), so I called DirecTV last night. They said they are going to upgrade for with a new dish, and a new DC box and that I will be getting the multi-room feature.

After checking the website today multi-room technology is not mentioned. I checked the order information on-line and it seems like they are installing the exact same dish that I have already. I called and they now say multi-room does not exist, but they will be advance wiring for it.

Does anyone know what is really happening? It seems like I got scammed into thinking I was being upgraded for free so they could lock me in for 24 more months.

The women on the phone were both clueless. One says I have multi-room and repeatedly confirmed that I could even access on a 3rd non-Hd box. The Beta website confirms this is not true. The second one says I am not getting the service and does not know why I am getting a new dish.

What equipment do you have? If you have an HD DVR and an HD receiver you can get Multi-room but you need to hook them up to each other with a Cat-5 cable. It is a beta test and the customer service reps do not know much about it. There are good people here who can explain it better than I, but I can tell you that it works beautifully. The non DVR HD receivers are slowly getting the software upgrade to enable it. The HD DVRs should all have it by now.

What is the model number of the failed receiver? And the model number of your second box? I'm suspicious you may have a first generation HD system and you will be getting current equipment and a SWM dish. If you'll post back the info we can tell for sure what the situation is.
