connecting to internet

I just got my DirecTV installed a week ago and want to connect it to the internet by wire to access ondemand movies.

I ran a RJ-45 wire to my router and tested it with my laptop and it works fine.  But when I connect it to the HD DVR it does not detect the internet.

I am getting the following information on the DVR network menu:

Problem detected

IP                  169.254.6.161 -- OK

Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0    -- OK

Default Gateway                  --

DNS                                     --

Network                               Connected

Internet                                Not Connected (13)

I also tried to go into the Network Setup Menu/Network Services

Clicked connect now and got this error:

unable to start network services 301

Any suggestions?
