You would do the same thing on the lap top. Go to wifi/connections settings. Find your SSID and put in your password. Or you can connect directly through an ethernet port if your laptop has one, no password needed for that type of connection.
Edit... SSID is the network name that can be found on your router or in the smart home manager app

Username... or network name. You'll find it on the sticker usually on the side.
