connection error issues

We have an ONN TV from Walmart.  We hooked up service in Sept 2021.  The installer said that Direct TV and ONN are not very

compatible and we constantly have connection error, searching for connection messages show up.  The TV freezes probably more than

a dozen times a day and it is very frustrating.  We should have been asked when we ordered Direct TV what kind of TV we had or been

told before the tech guy showed up for install.  Very upsetting.

@rahassler how exactly is your ONN antenna connected to the TV or DIRECTV receiver? Are you using a Local Channel Connector (LCC) Kit to your Genie receiver or is the ONN antenna connected directly to the TV with a coaxial port?

And, the reason it is freezing is because you have poor reception of your local TV station. Whether this means pointing the antenna in a different direction or getting an amplifier for it, that should be an obvious fix.

Also, there is no such thing as an ‘incompatible’ antenna. The tech clearly has no clue what they are talking about. While the LCC has a Winegard antenna that comes with it, I have found that most antennas work fine.

Directv and ONN TVs are perfectly compatible, the tech was talking (Edited per community guidelines). Ther is no "ONN antenna".

The OP does not say he is trying to use an OTA antenna.

@rahassler tell us exactly what is connected to your TV and which connection you use.

@TexasBrit ONN is a well known company that produces TVs and antennas. Look them up online.

EDIT: I just realized now that the OP said ONN TV and NOT ONN antenna, sorry for the mistake on my part.

ONN is actually a marketing brand, they don't make anything.  But yes, the OP said TV not antenna.
