Controlling 5 DirecTV boxes in a rack, side by side with 1 remote

5 DirecTV boxes, in a rack, side by side. They are a mix of (EDIT: H25 100 and 500 boxes).

I want a simple way to control all 5 of them from one device.

Would a RF20 remote work? I would need to set a different button on the remote to control each box, is that dooable?

Is there a way to attach the boxes to an app and control them through a desktop mac? I read about the DirecTV business app that could do this, but it said it was for tablets... I would prefer not to have to purchase a tablet for this.

Thanks for all wisdom and advice shared!!!

There is no why to program any buttons on any DTV remote. AFAIK any DTV remote will control all of them in IR

Shannon, I do not understand what you are trying to say.

You said "AFAIK any DTV remote will control all of them in IR" But since they are stacked side by side, how do I get one remote to change the channel on one box, and not the other four? Then get that same one remote, to change the channel on each of the other boxes, individually, without changing the channels on all of the boxes at the same time?

I hope I am being clear in my description of what I am trying to accomplish.

Thanks for your help.

Constructive, of course it is possible, I am just looking for guidance on the best way to do it, and wisdom from others who have done it.

I am 95% confident that the URC RFS200 will do the what I want.

I am also confident that the DirecTV business app will do this.

I KNOW 100% that bars like Buffalo Wild Wings in Las Vegas use DirecTV boxes, and do this very thing, controlling them all with a tablet. I often swap out TV's for the BWW's here in Vegas through another company, so I have seen it work.

I have to agree with the other two. Remote controls maybe pair to operate on one receiver, but there's no way to have one remote control all receivers.

And there is no way to have one remote choose different channel for each.

Not how they work.

I suspect the RFS200 won't do this. It does not generate different RF signals for each of the devices, just uses RF to get the signals to a unit that then generates the IR, but the IR is the same for all the receivers so they would all respond.. I suspect the unit uses IR "flashers" but with receivers next to each othere there's bound to be "spillover"

To do what you want you would need a remote which is capable of generating different codes in RF for each receiver and this does not do that.

It is possible however if you control each of the receivers using IP control and I suspect that's what the business app uses (which is why it's on a tablet). https://blog.solidsignal.com/tutorials/heres-use-ip-control-directv-receiver/

There are other apps that use ip control, google "controlling directv with IP control" and see what you can find.
