Convert CAT 5 to HD

Hello --

I have a new Samsung plasma TV mounted above my fireplace, with the wires installed behind the wall. However, the only wires that were ran were the regular black coax and CAT 5. An HDMI cable was notrun behind the wall.

I need to know what my options are. I am not sure if I can snake an HDMI cable behind the wall (it is about about five, going down from the mantle to the outlet near the floor).

Can I just cut the blue insulation off the ends of the CAT 5 and connect some of kind connector/adapter that will plug into the plasma TV on one end above the fireplace and the other end on the floor into the receiver. If not, are there other options? Can I expect any kind of help/assistance from Direct TV?

Thank you!

No, your CAT5 cable is not suitable for HDMI video.  I doubt a DirecTV installer will be able to help, either. Best bet is to contract your own electrical contractor or home theater installer to fish that cable for you.  They have the proper tools.  It shouldn't be too expensive.
