Dead Rec'

We have an R22 DVR and for the last couple of days it has been acting up. It started w/ breaking up like it was raining, then it started rebooting.

My husband checked all the connections inside and out and the dish. We ran the systems test and it passed but said the rec'r was 102 degrees.

We don't knowat what temp. is too hot for this unit. The only connection that was loose was at the unit itself and that was In Sat. , he tightened

it and all was fine, then he went out of town and it started rebooting this afternoon getting more frequent until that is all it was doing and I turned it

off.  We have had this R22 DVR since 2006? I think but that's close. I'm assuming it has died.  I'm not really savy about this stuff but I have a sinking

feeling that if it was getting that hot it may have caused the melt looking spots in our flat screen.  We thought it was our TV but now that all this comes up, it does seem logical, that the dimensions of the places on the TV align w/ the dimension of the DVR. Which is really wierd being it is

on a shelf above it. Anyway, Do I have a dead R22 DVR?

102 is not too hot but it does sound like you need a replacement.. Give them a call.

Understand that the R22 is considered a SD DVR and any replacement will likely be a SD DVR.  If that matters to you, best to discuss it with the CSR, maybe they can upgrade you to a HD DVR.

Thank You for responding.  It actually went completely out the record light blinking amber until the very end. I could not get it unhooked from the

cables due to my husband thinking they were lug nuts I guess.  I had powered off both my TV and the DVR although the DVR kept humming and the record light kept blinking.  I managed to connect another standard DTV box and I got sound but my picture on my TV is and will not even power on the light that shows you it is off.  My husband has now hooked up a different TV and a box from another room but didn't move the box just ran long coaxial, now all we get is searching for Satellite. Ran test and passed and then ran satellite signal test, that showed zero's in all the

columns and the satellite actually just showed n/a. Weird because the TV he unhooked was working fine.  If you have any insight that would

be great. He is going to call because he doesn't believe the dish could be out of alignment.  Thanks again!
