Dec 2011 update causes problems

This update causes an error message requiring that the Exit button be held in for some time, to switch the satellite receiver from HD to SD.

This was not the case before this update. This causes a large problem because I have both an HD and a SD TV connected to the receiver.

So now the service is degraded because I cannot use both TVs at once with their native resolutions, and I have to constantly switch back and forth to go from one to the other TV.  This software change is a big mistake by Directv, and needs to be corrected immediately,

Afraid it's not a mistake that will be "fixed" anytime soon.  It's a side-effect of the new HiDef User Interface software.  But there's a workaround if you don't like pressing EXIT .... Get a Component-to-Composite Video Converter.  They cost ~$40 from places like http://www.monoprice.com.  Connect your HD Receiver's Component Video (red, blue, green) video OUT to the matching Converter IN connectors. Then connect the Converter's Composite (yellow RCA) connector to your SD TV.  Then you won't have to deal with this nagging message.

Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.
