DECA vs. Ethernet

Does DirecTV intend to support both ethernet networks and DECA going forward, or is their plan to try move everyone to DECA at some point?  I have 2 DVRs and 3 other receivers which requires two separate dishes.  If I understand DECA, the receivers will communicate over the coax cables.  But having two separate dishes, not all of my receivers are interconnected via the coax.  It's like two separate networks.  But I can easily connect each of my receivers to my existing ethernet network.  Maybe a better question would be is there a way to get all 5 of my receivers on a single dish?

Thanks.

They will NOT provide any technical Support for ANYTHING except a DirecTV-installed DECA/SWiM network(not even a DIY DECA). Your equipment(DVR & Receiver model#'s and dish type...you must have a Slimline HD dish) are too vague for any other recommendations. post back specifics and we will try to answer some more of your questions.

P.S.

They DID decide to allow Whole Home DVR Service to be activated after the MRV Beta for us users with home networks(with no network support), but if you read many posts in this forum you will find getting WHDS activated by home network customers is like going to the oral surgeon:0(

Why do you need/have two separate dishes? It it isn't a requirement for the number and type of receivers you have.

1.  My current configuration may be a bit of a throwback to the older hardware.  I've got one HR23-700 (2 coax connections), one older DVR with TiVo that I want to upgrade to an HD DVR (2 coax connections), and three standard receivers that I want to upgrade to HD (3 coax connections).  Seven coax connections total.  One of my dishes is a slimline wihch got installed when I got my HR23.  The two DVRs are connected to that one.  They take up all four of the coax connections available.  My other dish is one of the original round dishes.  It has 2 coax connections and connects to the three standard receivers using a multi-switch.  I suppose I could get a second multi-switch and get all of my connections off of one dish.  Will that work with the newer HD equipment?

2.  I may have phrased my original question wrong when asking about supporting home ethernet networks.  I understand that DirecTV won't support the network.  My question was will the hardware and software continue to support using a home based ethernet network instead of DECA?  Though if I could get all of the receivers on one dish, DECA might be easier to set up.  But if I'm using multi-switches to get 7 coax cable outputs from four inputs, will DECA work with the multi-switch?

Thanks.

You're a perfect candidate for the Whole-Home DVR upgrade offer.  DirecTV will replace your SlimLine dish with a Single Wire Multiswitch version, install the DECA networking equipment, upgrade your old Receivers, and upgrade your old Tivo DVR to an HD DVR for a very sweet deal.  Then you won't need that second dish anymore.

DirecTV is going to use both Decas and Ethernet.

Ethernet is if you want to use Directv on demand which requires an internet connection and allows whole room viewing

Deca is if you just want to share recordings from one reciver to another and on demand content will not work

Ethernet connects work just fine for WHDVR, too.  But DECA is supported by DirecTV.
