DECA

For those of us new to this thread, could someone please explain what the DECA is and how it will be implemented? Is it a new device or software only? When is the expected rollout? What does it accomplish (seemingly adds network functionality) and how is it different from the MRV (whatever that acronym stands for).

Thanks.

This is a user-to-user tech support forum so there's no guarantee anyone from DirecTV will ever see what you post here. Using the phone, mail and email contact information found under 'help -> contact us' is the way to contact to DirecTV.

I notice that there has been a lot of software CE activity on the HR24 lately aimed at stability and MRV issues so I'd guess a software update may not be too far off.

desulliv,

I'm glad I said something: these forums are a great resource for sorting through persistent problems or spreading unfounded rumors. But you always want to start with DTV Tech Support, because they're the ones who can actually get things replaced if they're broke. My experience has been that they're pretty helpful and knowledgeable -- although, I've found that calling back in, for a issue that won't go away, often exposes new solutions because the next Tech brings a different set of skills and experiences, plus a fresh set of eyes for the problem.

Let us know what you get from Tech Support. As 'dcd' said, I sure the programmers are continuing to work out any software kinks -- but maybe all your system needs is a "nap" for the whole class. I know it does wonders for me!

ggtwo, not sure what you mean by a "nap", but when I came home from work the other day, all the connections were back. I didn't reboot anything and so far it's holding.

desulliv,

The fact that all your system connections restored themselves, without ANY action on your part, may be the best indicator yet that DECA is a "work in progress": software that will require a few programming tweaks before it shows the stability of a mature product. That being said, it can't be considered normal for it to be flaking out so often: make sure you call DTV Tech Support, the next you lose network contact with a DVR, making note of whether the HR24s are the only ones dropping.

As to the "nap for your whole class" comment, I was being a little too cute about the earlier idea of power cycling your DTV gear -- i.e. the group will feel (and perform) better after they've all had a little break. Sorry. I sometimes assume everyone else is on the same wavelength as I, which would be a little frightening, if it were true. 🙂

Today was my lucky day. Installer #6 nailed it.
I now have 2 HR24's, 1 H24 connected to DECA cloud and one D12 standard receiver.

menkelis,

That is great! Did he tell you (in English) what he did to get it working?

I have (2) HD DVR r22 receivers I have them networked together through my Linksys. I have using DHCP on both boxes and I have connectivity but I can not see the playlist on the other box. I have opted in to the beta testing. Any suggestions?

This thread is getting too long with too many different questions in it. Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.
