Delay in watching football games (on Sunday ticket and on broadcast)

I have DirecTV and a friend in another state has DirecTV.  If we are on the phone and watching the same game, his feed is a few seconds ahead of my feed.  This is really frustrating.  How can we synch the feeds?  Or rather, why is mine delayed??
