Diagnostic code

Got a new receiver (HR24/500). worked great a few weeks. then started skipping in playback. then yesterday box wouldn't turn on. did a reset. remote works. turned off power save mode. unit was on today but screen was frozen. had to do another reset. ran system test and got 21-599 internal storage error detected.  I called the number it gave me. he had no idea what i was talking and offered no help (literally only offered reset option) even after putting me on hold multiple times.  He said he could send out a tech for a fee.  i said i wasn't going to pay to fix a new piece of equipment. he said that's all he could do. i said fine, cancel me. he said he'd transfer but he hung up on me.  he did call back and transfer me to a department THAT WAS CLOSED and recording told me to call back.  (Edited per community guidelines). I have had hemorrhoids that were more helpful and less painful.  Does anyone know how to fix this? I really don't want to cancel but I'll do that before I let them extort more money from me.

Your DVR hard drive died. Call back DirecTV and insist they ship you a replacement HR24. It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan. Otherwise $20 for shipping.
