DirecTV Anywhere - cannot connect to home wifi network

On my laptop, I'm trying to use the "stream at home" option on directv.com.  The site informs me that my laptop is not conneted to my home wifi network.  I know that I am connected to my home network (the same network my DVR is connected to).  I also confirmed that both the IP address on the DVR and the IP address on my laptop are on the same IP range.

I called DirecTV's technical support.  After some troubleshooting (reseting the DVR and restoring the default network settings on the DVR), the technician informed me that the "stream at home" option is currently not working site wide for any platform (laptops, android devices, ipads, etc...).  There is no mention on the site that DirecTV Anywhere (or specifically, the "stream at home" option) is currently unavailable.  I also can stream live TV through the app on my iPad, so I know the service works through the app.

Could someone at DirecTV please confirm if the "stream at home" option is working?  If the service is working, could someone please assist with getting the "stream at home" option to recognize my laptop is on my home wifi network?

Thank you.

Not sure what discussion you had, but none of the streaming options are down.  If you go to www.directv.com and sign in and then select "Watch Directv" the selected program will play on your computer.

I'm also not sure of what you refer to as "stream at home".  You can stream from a GenieGO, you can stream from a HD DVR via Directv2PC etc. etc.  If the first paragraph doesn't cover what you're trying to do, post back with more description.

1. Go to directv.com

2. Click "Guide" from the menu that runs horizontally across the top of the

homepage.

3. Check the "stream at home" option above the guide which will filter the

guide to show the channels available to stream from home.

Then, I click one of the available shows listed in the guide. I click

"watch now" to watch the show. I am prompted to check my connection (to

confirm that I'm connected to my home wifi network). The result is always

that I'm not connected to my home wifi network. But I know that my laptop

is connected to my home wifi network, and I confirmed that the IP addresses

on my laptop and on the DVR are in the same IP range.

I just watched a portion of MLB using your sequence so the system is working.  If your HD DVR connected to the same network as your computer?  Usually these connection problems are easily fixed but not so easy to locate sometimes.  The biggest problem arises when a user becomes convinced that the problem is on Directv's end and seeks a solution there.

Thank you for confirming the stream at home service is working. I'm not

blaming DirecTV. It was their phone tech support that said it was a site

wide issue (so actually they blamed themselves). And I also did not say

the problem is on their end. I'm asking for assistance from DirecTV in

troubleshooting why the connection is not working. If DirecTV offers the

stream at home option, then they need to be able to support the setup of it.

Any suggestions on what would cause DirecTV to think my laptop is not on my

home wifi network? Do I need to open ports for the service to work? Other

than steps to install the required software, I cannot find any FAQs for

initial setup or basic troubleshooting.

1.) Is there a code that comes along with the message?

2.) Go to your DVR, press the dash button on the remote, what comes up next to internet?

3.) Reason i ask is because if for some reason your dvr has become unconnected it wouldnt work, however i know you mention in your post that it works fine on your ipad, so forgive me asking you to double check it.

1) There is no code. I receive the "not connected to my home wifi network"

message from DTV's website on my laptop. The message is not from the DVR.

2) I pressed the dash button and it says, "Internet: Connected"

3) I don't mind double checking. I appreciate the help. The problem is

definitely specific to using a laptop to stream live tv from DTV's website.

I even tried a second laptop: connected it to my home wifi, tried to

stream live tv on DTV's website and received the same message that I was

not connected to my home wifi network. Do I need to open up certain ports

for the service to "see" my home network?

Make sure the firewall on your router is inactive.

My router firewall security options are High, Medium and Low. My firewall

was already set to Low. Specifically, it says:

Minimum Security (Low)

Inbound Policy: Accept.

Outbound Policy: Accept.

Have you tried doing it a different way? like hovering your mouse over watch directv, then hover over TV showes and select Top TV shows to watch online, then pick a random show (make sure the channel it's on is in your base package) and see if it works.

There is an icon next to the program name that denotes it is available for

streaming at home, so I know that I am clicking on the correct programs.

If I click on the three "stream everywhere" channels (AUDHD, AXSTV and

BTVHD), then the streaming works. The issue is that DTV is not validating

that my laptop is on my home wifi network. What would block DTV from

validating my laptop is on my home wifi network?

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same message on my Mac but I can watch with my iPad. I know the issue is with the Mac, I just don't know what.

Thanks for giving the stepwise instructions on how you were trying to Stream at Home.  I followed them and it worked for me to "Watch Now" on CNN.  Normally these kinds of things are glitchy for me on DirecTV, but this worked OK for me.

Hope you got it resolved.
