DirecTV System Not Grounded?
Hey Guys! I don't know if my system is grounded. I have had 2 techs come out and they both say its okay. There isn't a grounding block outside and the grounding wire from the mast goes into the basement and is not connected to anything. The only ground thing is a screw connected to a faceplate going to one of the receivers. Is that okay? I have attached a picture to show the ground going to the screw. I am pretty sure that the man tested it and installed it, however, I am not sure if the effective distance will reach the satellite as we have already had a power surge scare recently and I do not want to make this another way for it to happen.The wire goes from the screw to the coax connector.

We understand you have a concern with if your equipment is grounded or not. Don't worry; we can help point you in the right direction.
That would be hard to determine from a picture if your DIRECTV is grounded correctly. The tech stated it was grounded, and I'm sure it could be. I would advise that you get an electrician out there to test your electric lines to make sure your home is grounded just in case of a power surge.

Hi, I know that my lines are grounded, but I don't want to hire an electrician for something you guys should be doing correctly already. It's ridiculous.

If your only concern is your receiver, then you have no worries because from the picture you provided it does show that your receiver is grounded. We only suggested an electrician because you stated you had a power surge scare, which could be a safety hazard.

Grounding does nothing to prevent lighting strikes after all trees are grounded and are hit all the time.

Hello @BFSD2421,
So your concern is with the dish? I would say that its grounded, because you would experience a lot of static and interference from wind hitting the dish if it wasn't.
Are you having signal issues with the dish?

My Dish is not grounder and I get a "hum" which is directly related to a ground issue that I am having. The noise drives me crazy as it is loudest in my bedroom.
