Dish mounting advice

My dish was fascia mounted 20+ years ago. With new upgrades, I am being forced to upgrade my dish and receiver if I want to keep Directv. My problem- I have very few places (lots of trees) to mount the newer, heavier dish  since it can no longer be fascia mounted. My two options are mounting over a sliding glass door or bathroom window. Both of these are view windows and the mounting  bracket would hang 10 to 12 inches below the door or window. Low enough that someone tall would bump their head exiting the sliding door. Is there anyway that I can beef up the overhang behind my fascia to accept the new bracket? No rafter tails on the the overhang, just plywood roofing with deco strips  these strips are not rafters. The pictures show where the dish is currently mounted and what the overhang looks like.

Even with the pictures, without being physically there, my advice for you is not going to make it sufficient. When the technician comes, they will decide the best spot/mounting scheme for the dish. There is always a pole mount with cement in the ground, a non-penetrating mount, rail mount, under eave mount ( seems to be most appropriate for your case), and regular stub mount or traditional pole with monopoles.

Detuch254. Thanks for your comment. As I stated, the two mounting areas that will pick up signal will result in  having hardware hanging down over two windows that will destroy our views and cause us to duck when we exit the glass door. I may have to look at another service- i.e. Starlink

Starlink may be a better fit, especially since you are then able to use a streaming service. However, note that Starlink too needs a clearing of the sky in order to receive optimal signal.

Hi Googe. DIRECTV constantly improves so that we can provide the best service for loyal customers like you. Usually, the dish installation process is done on a tech appointment. One of our experts will look at your house's structure and determine the best option for a line of sight. Installation can take from 3-4 hours. Someone 18 or older and authorized to sign documents on your behalf must be present. When needed, we will gladly schedule an appointment via DM for you 😊. Ana, DIRECTV Community Specialist
