Disk Error

Woke up this morning to see a blue blinking line on my receiver. I had to unplug the receiver to get it to shut down. Once it came back on it said mulitple disk errors found and system needed to scan disk to correct errors. It's been over 4 hours now and it's only at 54%. It states we have over 40,000 errors. I'm thinking the hard drive is dead where this was a refurbished one from the the equipment protection. Any ideas? I'm watching time tick away in the day and this is valuable shipping time if I need to have it replaced.
