Do I need an HR24?

I called Directv today to get the Whole-Home DVR serivce set up in my house and the lady told me that I had to have an HR24 for it to work. I told her I had two HR22's and those were the only two recivers I wanted hook up. She then told me that I had to have at least three recivers hooked up for the service to work and that one had to be an HR24. Its hard for me to believe that I have to have three recivers hooked up and that one has to be an HR24. Any ideas??

The representatives aren't all up-to-speed on this yet, so call again.  You can get whole-home DVR service with your HR22s.  Directv can set up you with DECA adapters for receivers that don't have built-in DECA (only the H24 and HR24 have this).  Only two receivers are required and one must be a HD DVR.  The other receiver can be a HD DVR or a HD receiver (other than the H20 which does not support networking).

OK that is what I thought. I will call back and talk to somebody else. She told me I had to have at least one HR24 or H24 installed for it to work. She also added that I would have to sign a new two year contract if I got the new reciever. So I think that she just wanted to get me locked into a new two year commitment. Do you know if I pay the $100 for them to come install do I have to sign a new two year commitment?

Thanks

The DECA install does not trigger a new 2 year commitment.  Only upgrading a receiver does that.
