Dolby Audio makes popping sounds

I intermittently get popping sounds when going back and forth with the DVR (C61K/HR54) or when changing channels.  It only happens when Dolby Audio is enabled.

Since I have a Atmos compatible system, I'd like to get more than 2 channel audio from you, but the popping sounds are very annoying

Is there a fix for this?

What brand/model Atmos surround system do you have?

How is the C61K connected to it?

Re: Dolby Audio makes popping sounds

The C61 is connected by (premium certified) HDMI cable to an Anthem MRX1120
AVR with current firmware.

Thanks. Have you tried different Dolby settings on your Anthem?

Does the problem happen if you bypass the Anthem and connect directly to your HDTV?

You might also want to check Anthem's web site and/or support forum.

I have tried many different settings on the Anthem; some have minor effects, but no real change.

Also there are other multichannel audio sources  going through the Anthem (e.g. blu-ray disk, ROKU) that don't exhibit this. So it clearly has somethign to do with the way DirecTV is outputting its dolby.

I cannot bypass the Anthem (and get any sound), but  I did try this on a different TV (with a different C61) and could not reproduce it.  Can the C61's be switched?

Sure. But note that there are two different C61 models .... the C61K 4K Mini Genie, and the C61 non-4K Mini Genie. What do you have?

Re: Dolby Audio makes popping sounds

I have 3 TVs:

Main TV: C61K, Anthem AVR Atmos---popping only on DirecTV Dolby

2nd TV: C61K, matching Samsung soundbar 5.1—problem not observed, but there
is a sound delay because of the Bluetooth

3rd TV: HD only; Marantz AVR 5.1—problem not observed, but connection is
direct to HR54.
