Double play
I am having issues with audio while using double play. Everything is fine on one tuner, but when I switch to the other tuner, to watch the 2nd program, there is no audio. I have tried this on several channels and still have no audio.
When I first start doubleplay, I have audio on both programs. It takes a few minutes for the audio to go out, then I cant get it back. I have tried pausing and live tv, still no audio.
My son has the same model HDDVR upstairs, and his is not having the problem. Mine is connected to a surround sound receiver, and my son's is not.
If I record the program, and play it through my list, I have sound while using surround sound. Also if I turn my surround sound receiver off, and use audio though the TV itself, I get sound.
I just now turned my surround sound back on, and put both tuners in double play on the show Alaska State Troopers. I have sound on one tuner, but when I switch to the second tuner, the sound is gone again. This is the same program on the same channel, on both tuners.

First thing to try is resetting your DVR/Receiver using the red button behind the front panel access card door. See if that helps.

I'd guess you are having a partial handshake issue when switching channels in double play. You have a HDMI connection in the system, yes? If so, replacing the HDMI with component plus digital audio would likely stop the problem.

Yes, it looks like a handshake issue between the DirecTV box and your A/V receiver. Is it a Denon by any chance (there seem to be more handshake issues with Denon than any other receiver)?

I am having the same exact issue and I do believe it is a handshake issue. And mine is a Denon receiver.
For me, this issue only happens when one tuner has SD programming that is NOT Dolby Digital. So when I go from Tuner 1 program which is DD, then switch to a program on Tuner 2 that is SD and NOT Dolby Digital, that is when I lose audio. It mostly happens to me when the Tuner with the SD program is not live. And once audio is lost, the only way to get it back is to change the channel and then put it back, or I recently discovered that if I turn off Dolby Digital on my HR24-500, I get the audio back.
Very frustrating, but luckily at least on my end that it is only SD, non DD programs that lose audio- not an issue most of the time.

I am having the same exact issue
Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.
