dvr losing signal
My hd dvr loses signal when I change the channel. When I change the channel, the screen goes black, a message comes up that it is searching for signals, the lights go off on the dvr , then in about two seconds it turns back on and tunes to the new channel...The resolution setting changes as well...from 760 to 1080 , back and forth during this process..

This is a typical symptom of a loose, corroded or wet coax connection somewhere between the DVR and the dish. When you tune the DVR to any channel, the DVR sends a signal UP the coax to the dish instructing it to send down the appropriate signal. The bad connection slows down the up signal and the result is what you see. This can also result in "black" recordings because if the program is set to record, as soon as the DVR sees the "searching" response, it stops trying and does not record.
Note that a bad LNB assembly in the dish could also cause these symptoms. If you can, you could take all the connections you can get to apart and inspect them. If you don't locate anything, then a service call would be in order. Free with the Protection Plan or under 90 day warranty, otherwise ~$50.

Yes agree with above...many times just taking of Sat in Cable/Cables off at back of receiver and unscrew connection at wall as well (if possible) then just reconnect ! A lot of times many things can cause static electricity to build in coax line, doing above will release and correct! If hold info button down 5-or 6 seconds on remote, will bring up test screen...just hit select button to run system test ! Run test prior to taking connection/s off and rerun after, a lot of times if get alignment or cabling failure...will see it is corrected after !
