DVR Plus in 1 room and standard receiver in another?

Is it possible to get a dvr plus for 1 room of my house and a standard receiver in another room.  I know the DVR will require another coax cable be run (in addition to my existing RG6 coax) and I prefer to have this done on my own (I've seen the "Professional" Installation??). What type of coax cable is required for this 2nd line? I want the DVR independent from the unit in the other room, as I simply want to watch the TV/satilite in the other room.
